Take a close look at a fresh pretzel. Where the baker cut into its rounded belly, the dough springs up in the oven. Light, soft, and a little cheeky. Bakers call that the "bloom." We call it a smile.
Our pretzel rattle wears this smile with pride. The light-colored insert in the center is decorated with white embroidery, reminiscent of the coarse salt crystals on the crust that crunch so satisfyingly with the first bite.
Directly beneath the smiling belly is a squeaker. Inside, there's also a rattle. If you squeeze, shake, or throw the pretzel in the air, you'll get a response.
The casing is made of silky Lycra knit. Filled with polyester fiber, the pretzel remains wonderfully soft and light. It comes in two degrees of browning: rust brown like a golden Sunday pretzel or dark brown with fine, dark stripes, like one fresh from a lye bath.
