Large objects create a large impact. Placing an oversized textile object in a room, at a trade show booth, or in a shop window generates immediate attention – without noise, without screens, without electricity. The physical presence of an XXL textile object cannot be replaced by any digital advertising campaign. People stop. People photograph. People interact.
Reference Projects from Practice
Three projects from our studio show particularly impressively what custom-made oversized textile objects can achieve.
For the theater production "Requiem for a piece of Meat" in Zurich, we created air-filled XXL sausages and a monumental ham measuring 500 x 150 x 350 cm – made from faux leather over a PVC core, stage-ready, lightweight and reusable.

For Madame Tussauds Berlin, as part of the "House of Berlin Colours", we produced oversized textile food objects – including a giant portion of fries with currywurst. True to the original, colourful, and suitable for permanent installation.

And for the Mall of Berlin, Studio Aufschnitt realized the Soft Giant in collaboration with Werkbande – a cuddly monster spanning over seven metres, redefining spaces and inviting interaction.

Three projects, three completely different requirements – one studio with the craft and digital expertise to deliver them all.
Air-Filled, Stuffed or Both
Air-filled objects are the most resource-efficient solution: lightweight, space-saving to store, quick to set up – ideal for stage productions, events and temporary installations. The Soft Giant for the Mall of Berlin was temporarily filled with corn chips – a renewable, fully biodegradable material. For permanent installations, more durable filling materials are available. Depending on the application and requirements, we advise on the best solution.
Digital Precision Meets Craftsmanship
It has become rare – the expertise to professionally realize oversized textile objects. The challenge lies in the pattern construction: how do you position the parts of a three-dimensional object on fabric rolls that are often only 1.50 m wide? How do you scale a form from small to enormous without losing proportions?
Studio Aufschnitt solves this with 3D software and years of hands-on experience. The starting point is always a small reference model – all desired shapes are first created at a small scale, digitally captured, precisely scaled and then realized at the desired final size. From compact to room-filling – any size is possible.
Special feature: The surface of every object can be fully covered with digital print. Logos, patterns, photographs, illustrations – anything that can be created on a computer can be printed directly onto the fabric. The result is not just an oversized object, but a precise brand experience.
From Large-Scale Object to Merchandising
What many don't know: every one of these oversized objects can be directly translated into a merchandising product. The sausages from the theater production as a small give-away. The monster as a mini collector's item. The currywurst as a handy souvenir. Starting from the large reference object, all pattern pieces are digitally captured, precisely scaled and realized in the desired smaller version – from one studio, with the same design, the same quality.
Die Kleinversionen lassen sich als kosteneffiziente Merchandising-Massenproduktion The smaller versions can be produced as cost-efficient merchandising mass production – using a long-established and proven infrastructure. Studio Aufschnitt draws on the same production structures already in place for the sausage cushions and textile objects of the Aufschnitt Studio. Quality that works. Processes that scale.
We Accompany the Entire Process
From the first sketch through prototyping, digital pattern construction and scaling to series production and delivery – Studio Aufschnitt accompanies every project from start to finish. Whether it's a one-of-a-kind piece for theater and exhibitions, an oversized advertising figure for a trade show, or a merchandising series for a shop.
