Textile XXL sculptures for urban spaces and visionary enterprises
In a world dominated by speed, efficiency, and rigid structures, Aufschnitt Berlin offers a striking counterbalance—an invitation to slow down, engage, and experience the power of softness on a monumental scale. With Soft Giants, the studio explores the boundaries between art, design, and function, creating oversized, handcrafted textile sculptures that transform ordinary spaces into immersive environments of comfort, interaction, and creative expression.
As part of Berlin Design Week, Gravitex presents Studio Aufschnitt with two impressive projects that take textile sculptures to a new level: an iconic cuddle monster over seven meters wide, created in collaboration with Werkbande for the Studio of Wonders in Berlin, as well as the latest partnership with Tüftel Lab Berlin – gigantic, organically shaped beanbags inspired by elementary particles.
These textile sculptures are far more than visual statements – they are multisensory experiences that invite touch, exploration, and interaction. Whether as a sculptural centerpiece in a modern office or a dynamic lounge element in visionary interiors, each piece represents a new way of thinking about softness as a design principle.
This exhibition offers a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the meticulous creative process, from initial sketches to the final masterpiece. More than just visually striking, these textile sculptures are multisensory experiences—inviting touch, interaction, and exploration.
The exhibition is expanded by Bergit Faßl and her label/platform a.ACHAT, which positions itself as an interface between fashion/costume, interior design, music, and craftsmanship. For Design Week, she presents one of her most extraordinary textile wall hangings—a powerful composition of texture, color, and artistic experimentation.
